Vasantha Murthy, M.D. has treated patients at Scoliosis Associates for nearly 30 years. She focuses on the complete care of patients with scoliosis and other spinal deformities, and her expertise is in the non-operative treatment of scoliosis and bracing. She is an attending physician at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Murthy completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at New York University Medical Center. During medical school, Dr. Murthy invented, designed, and patented a dynamic upper body orthosis for patients with movement disorders.
Dr. Murthy is certified by the American Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.
Dr. Murthy is a member of several prestigious organizations including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the New York Academy of Medicine.
Other areas of interest to Dr. Murthy include neuromuscular disorders and child development. She has been awarded grants from the Muscular Dystrophy Association for Rehabilitation Management of Muscular Dystrophy and other associated neuromuscular disorders. Dr. Murthy has published and presented her research in journal articles, at national meetings, and has co-authored a textbook titled Rehabilitation of Fractures.
