“Disc Degeneration Below Arthrodesis in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis at a minimum 10 year follow-up.”
Principal Investigator: Baron S. Lonner, M.D.
Co-Investigators: Joshua D. Auerbach, MD; Randal R. Betz, MD; Kenneth Cheung, MD; You-Qiang Song, PhD; Kristin E. Kean, BA
Agency: AOSpine Research Commission, Hansjorg Wyss Foundation start up research grant award
Amount of Support: $50,000 x 1 year
The goal of this project is to evaluate potential radiographic and genetic risk factors for degenerative disc disease (DDD)below long fusions in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) using MRI to assess the integrity of the free, caudal discs, as well as genetic profiling to assess predisposition.
2009-2010
“In vivo quantification of adjacent level cervical disc integrity following anterior cervical decompression and fusion and laminoplasty: A matched pair analysis and comparison using T1rho-weighted MRI.”
Principal Investigator: Joshua D. Auerbach
Co-Investigators: K. Daniel Riew, MD, Baron S. Lonner, MD
Agency: Cervical Spine Research Society
Amount of Support: $70,000
The goal of this project is to quantify disc integrity at the adjacent levels in patients with multilevel cervical myelopathy who undergo either a laminplasty or anterior cervical corpectomy and arthrodesis with plating using T1rho-weighted MRI.
